Praying with Understanding

Prayer, I believe is a conversation between us and God, either we are giving thanks, making requests or even asking questions. Yet it is not uncommon to feel like a prayer could be such a complicated and maybe even a delicate conversation to have, after all, it's God we are talking to here. There is no way that wouldn't be somehow daunting! I remember learning to pray as a child during family devotions and how nervous I'd get, mumbling through my words, hardly able to get anything coherent out. My auntie, bless her, would jump in the middle of one of my many long pauses to rescue me and carry on with the prayer but once we were done, my uncle would almost chide her for not giving me a chance to learn and develop my confidence. I didn't blame her; I found those long pauses very uncomfortable too! So, I usually understand when people tell me they do not know how to pray and would prefer others to pray for them or they'll just avoid it altogether and some even ask if ...

It's the Truth

…when everything is said and done, what will matter most is how well you guarded your crown...Reference: Revelation 3 vs 11

So we've come to the end of the first working week in 2021 and it seems like it is already a full month! So much have happened in just one week, it’s like 2021 is trying to take 2020 on a romantic date but no way are we going to endorse that relationship, it cannot be allowed! Who's with me?! Lol!
So glad and thankful to be back at work, albeit remotely and to find my colleagues all safe and well.

The reality of being in another lockdown is not pleasant, but we will do what we can to get out of this, we owe it to one another. If we think we are strong enough to get through this, let's remember some are struggling and if we do what is right, the quicker we get out of this pandemic and the better for us all.

Please, let's continue to look after one another by wearing facemasks and social distancing as advised.

Like many, I've been following the news about the chaos in Washington DC and just can't believe I can still be shocked by anything. I posted a few comments on Twitter and typed and deleted dozens more as I realized I was letting my frustration get the better of me.
I'm just upset that some people are being used this way. Yes, being used to the point that they question what is right before their eyes. People are more vulnerable, especially at this time and that is being exploited for selfish political and financial gain. Just sad!
I feel a lot is happening around us at the moment, much more than I feel we can comprehend or deal with.
I feel it's like staring intently at a picture trying to find hidden messages within it. It can be very frustrating and tiring!
However, as I always say, we cannot do it all on our own strength, we need to cast our troubles on Him.

Come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28 ESV

I remember clearly a very emotional conversation I had with a close friend of mine before Christmas. He had gathered a number of us on Zoom, his close friends and shared a vision he had had.
Now, before I go into the vision I need to give you a brief profile of this friend of mine: What I've always known him to be is a dedicated, faithful, honest, loving husband and dad. I've never had any reason to doubt his service or passion for God. He is no pastor or preacher from what I know of him, but his heart and disposition is always good. I always enjoy a good banter with him every time we talk, he's that kind of friend that will tease and make you laugh always.
He had a vision of heaven and a burden was placed on him to go and "tell".
I listened to him, his voice shaking as he gave detailed accounts of what he saw and quite confused and overwhelmed, saying he did not know why God picked him of all people to show him all he related to us. He was to tell as much people as he could. I believed somehow, he wasn't the only one who had been given such a revelation.

The second coming of Christ has never been so important yet it is something that some of us Christians dread thinking about not to mention, discussing out loud. Some folks may not even understand what in the world we are talking about and when you begin to explain, they'll think you've lost your marbles! Like it or not, it is a truth we can't shy away from:

Jesus will come back again.

There it is: the truth of the death, resurrection and the promise Jesus made that He will be back. If we can all accept the sacrifice of His death and resurrection, we should be able to handle the truth of Him coming back at an unknown time.
People have said there are pointers everywhere that it may be soon, others say you see what you want to see.

A lovely 🎡 song was even recently released by a gospel artiste Judikay titled:  Jesus is Coming (here is a link to it on YouTube)
I've heard some ask, "What does this second coming mean?" "Does that mean the end of the world?!"
Others have asked about the timing; the truth is, no one knows. It could be in this hour as I post this or in another century, it could happen anytime.

What I believe is important is guarding our hearts and being always ready.

People have doubts about the truth of it because of false predictions in the past but if you read the bible, you won't be caught up in all those shenanigans, you'll live your life born ready for His second coming.

It reminds me of my university days when you hear the lecturer announce an impromptu test during a class, one that will make up 20% of your total marks!
There wouldn't be anything to worry about if you'd been taking notes and studying, if not? Well, what can I say?!
I did learn the hard way in my first year! Lol!

I decided to write this piece now because I also felt a burden on my heart to do so and briefly share my friend's vision. The pandemic or the precarious state of global peace is not why I think this is needed now. There have been pandemics, plagues, wars, and much more awful situations in the past and Jesus did not choose that time to return, I don't know when He will.
It just needs to be said now, it may speak differently to whoever is reading this, but what I hope it does is remind us to do better.

The book of Revelation in the Bible has some interesting facts about signs that will precede His coming. It's an interesting read especially chapters 1; 2 and 22 for anyone that wants to know more about this.

Jesus will make the trip when He wants, we are to be ready for Him when He does.

If you already have the belief that Jesus is the Son of God and not some myth but that He chose to come to earth to be born, live, be persecuted and eventually die for our sins then raised on the third day in glory to be seated at the right hand of the Father, then just continue to live a life dedicated to Him.

If you don't already, there isn't a specification of who can come to Jesus, ALL CAN.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him."
John 3:16-17 ESV

YOU reading this, know you are so loved. He made you with so much care and He loves you. That is the truth you need to believe, and it may be that you are going through a hard time and you don't feel that love, I can only tell you His love got me through my own hard times and it will get you through yours.

Here is the ABC to starting a relationship with Him if you choose to, just:
A= Accept (Jesus as your Lord)
B= Believe (Jesus died for your sins)
C= Confess (With your heart, confess & believe He has forgiven your sins)

A relationship with Jesus is all about LOVE, never condemnation.
It isn't costly, it takes nothing from you, rather it gives you the most precious gift which is eternal life. Just learn to live in love and be fair to others.
Put God above everything else and allow Him to direct your path.
God's love does not restrict; it empowers and gives us freedom.

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom!

Love always.

Ige
